Marek Chadim is a Predoctoral Fellow at Yale’s Tobin Center for Economic Policy, where he assists Professors Seth Zimmerman and Barbara Biasi. As a visiting student he took Ph.D. courses in industrial organization and econometrics in 2025–26, and this fall he is taking Measure Theory and Integration for a letter grade. Before Yale he earned an M.S. in Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics and a B.S. in Economics at Charles University, and worked as a research assistant at the IIES (Stockholm University) and CERGE-EI (Prague).
His master’s thesis estimated markups for Czech construction firms, public and private, and how those markups change with entry into and exit from public procurement, on a firm-level panel matched to public procurement records. It received the Czech Economic Society’s Young Economist of the Year Award (first place, 2025).
He presented the paper at Yale’s Pre-Doctoral Economics Conference in June 2026 and at the Czech Economic Society’s award session in November 2025 (video), and took part in the 8th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Economic Sciences as a young economist in August 2025.
